How do I configure a program to launch at startup on Windows XP?

Thank you.

Create a shortcut to the program and place it in the desired Startup
folder:

"C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup" if you
want the application to start for anyone who uses the computer.

"C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Start Menu\Programs\Startup" if you
want the application to start for just that particular user.

Put a shortcut to it in the folder C:\Documents and Settings\Ken\Start
Menu\Programs\Startup

(change Ken to your user name).

How do I configure a program to launch at startup on Windows XP?

Right click on the program file
choose create shortcut
move the shortcut to this folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
If you only want one user to have the program start at login time then move
it to the Startup folder for that user eg:
C:\Documents and Settings\code_wrong\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

To open the folder quickly just copy an paste the path:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
into Start>Run

I have a major problem. WHile trying to make space for sp2 for windows xp
I've moved files that prevent my desktop to appear. When I start my PC it
goes thru the normal sys cks and displays the widows logo and then when the
normal desktop should appear I get a white screen and the mouse cursor.
Additionally the PC won't cut off when I depress the on off switch. I've
backed up the entire C drive on an external hard drive(Maxtor) so I have the
files but can't utilize widows explorer or even get a c: prompt to copy file
with DOS.

Any suggestions? If I could call you I'd be glad to take instructions over
the phone. I'm using my laptop to send this email/question.

Thanks

Sam
