Hello

I'm trying to start powerpoint with a specific template,
but nothing ist working. Why can't Powerpoint doing the
same like Word or Excel.

Has anybody a hint for me to work out my problem?

Thanks,
Lukas.

"""Help file information for PowerPoint XP""":

You can do a search using Windows Explorer for your template and the file
"blank.pot". Put your template in the same folder as the "blank.pot".
Change the "blank.pot" to "oldblank.pot". Change your file name from
whatever it is to "blank.pot".

Of course, you could simply put your preferred template (*.pot) file on your
desktop and double-click it to open up a new presentation based on your
template. This option is probably cleaner. That way the default
"blank.pot" is still there and available in case you ever change your mind.

Hi Lukas,

When you have the template you want open, save
as "Blank.pot" (ie. as a powerpoint template). This will
then be your default each time you open Powerpoint.

PS. See "Change the default design for new presentations"
in Powerpoint help for more details.

Lukas,
If you are using PowerPoint 2003, you can actually set a template to be the
default template without overwriting the blank template. To do this, bring
up the task pane for slide design. Click the dropdown box for the template
you want to be the default for new presentations and select "Use for all new
presentations". Now when you open a new presentation, it will automatically
use that template.

(I am not sure if you are using 2003, but it might be a reason to
upgrade...)
