Hi,
I'm a new user for XP,
when I changed my music played at windows start up as I used to play in
Windows 98, it just cut at the middle of playing.
How I can make windows XP play the full (wave) file at startup.
Appreciating your help.
Best regards.

It will stop playing when your BIOS completes booting system files, some PCs
take longer than others, thus the length of the music. If you like the
song, go
to search for Title.wma, there you can doubleclick the song and play to your
hearts content. You can even copy it to a CD.

Thanks for replying,
But what am asking for is playing the full WAVE file on start up of windows,
such as Win98 .
I'm sure there is a setting which have to be changed...wondering what is it.

When installing XP the intro.wmv is activated (you have copy on your harddrive)
which induces Title.wma the song. After the BIOS goes thru the Boot.ini
Windows is activated and the song stops. On some PCs it will play for a few
seconds on others, depending on the boot structure, it lasts for minutes. You
can find it at: C:\Windows\System32\images\oobe\title.wma
There you can double click it, the song plays for almost 5 minutes.
There is no magic button to push for it to play longer, it all depends on
your system.

Hello -
Like Mohammad, I too would like to "lengthen" the startup music to allow it
to play out. I read Mohammad's post, and your reply, "Byte", and it would
appear we are doomed to listening to just enough of our favorate "startup
piece" to get us smiling, only to have it "cut off" and end in silence...
Bummer...

But since this is a function of when the BIOS finishes running the
"Boot.ini" file, wouldn't there be some way to "tell" Boot.ini that it hasn't
completed its task until the music is through playing? ( Remember the old
saying: It's not over 'til the fat lady sings...? )

'Way back in the days of '95 I had a lengthy piece which I doctored to fade
out using a WAVE program. In my eyes (ears?) it was THE PERFECT SIGN-OFF... I
did nothing to '95 to cause it to "work". It just did, and I loved it... Now
here we are 10 years later and we're no longer able to "tailor" our intros to
suit our tastes? That WOULD be a bummer!

PS: I'm using 2K Pro with all the latest updates... 'Sure hope you can
come up with a "fix" for this 'cause "your favorite song" for a startup
session goes a long way towards setting the "tone" for the day!

Regards, Hotshoe...

Like I stated in my earlier reply, you can do a Search for Title.wma
and double click it, then listen to your hearts content. It plays for about
5 mins.
WindowsXP was programmed to stop the sound up completion for MS received
complaints that many people wanted the music to stop and "get on" with using
their computers. C'est la vie!
