Over time, an increasing number of programs seem to start
up with windows XP when I turn my computer on. How can I
control which programs load automatically on startup?

On each program you don't want to start automatically, check its
Options to see if it has the choice not to start. Many can easily
and best be stopped that way. If that doesn't work, run MSCONFIG
from the Start | Run line, and on the Startup tab, uncheck the
programs you don't want to start automatically.

I saw a neat program on TechTV the other day and it works
very well for checking programs and services on the startup
lists. Here is the link

I downloaded it and it works as advertised.
