Hi there,
I've just installed a new Athlon compatible motherboard.
After installation I managed to successfully partition the
hard disk and install XP Home. Now thow when I start up I
don't get past the initial Windows XP splash screen and
progress bar. The start up never continues to the desktop
but just stops there and then and the screen stays dark. I
do manage to get it running in safe mode though. Any off
the cuff idea what it could be? Have I overlooked
something? As I said as far as I can see installation went
smoothly, restart in between and completed it. It looks
like it starts up from the CD, why not from the HD?
Any tips greatly appreciated, I know it sounds a bit vague...

Bootup and Press F8 before Windows starts to load - you'll get the Start-Up
menu.

Try the VGA Boot option.

If this is successful then update your video card drivers asap.

Martin.
