When I reboot XP home or turn the machine on in the morning it comes up fine
but brings up a screen showing a directory of a recently installed
'Microsoft Flight Simulator'.

Why is it doing that? And how do I get it to NOT come up.

I tried looking in the various startup directories and can't see anything
about that. So don't know where to turn now?

Disable it in Msconfig.
(Start-Run-MSCONFIG-Startup tab)
If you cannot see anything in Msconfig then:

Start-Run-msinfo32
Click the + beside Software Environment to expand.
Click Startup Programs
Ctrl+A to Select All, Ctrl+C to Copy.
Paste that information in your message.

What comes up is a Microsoft Folder, with the 'games' folder showing in the
window. Nothing else.

Hi Ted

I don't see anything obvious in your Startup.
If nobody else can pick something there, then disable some of those
items selectively until you find the cause.

Hi Ted,

Try this:

Control Panel/Folder Options/View tab, uncheck the line "restore previous
folder windows at logon". Click apply/ok, do not reboot yet.

Start/run msconfig, on the general tab select the diagnostic mode. Click
apply/ok and reboot when prompted.

The folder should not show up now. Rerun msconfig, put the system back in
normal mode. Click apply/ok and reboot once more. Does this help?
