I've just installed Windows XP profession on my pc (formatted the drive as
well) and have a problem with it - it starts up and the windowsxp
professional logo comes up with the status bar, that displays for a while
then a black screen appears and the computer does nothing else at all. It
will however work in safe mode, but not safe mode with networking support,
as it hangs during the part where it is loading all the drivers

Any ideas?

Cheers

Well you basicly answered your own question will not boot to safe mode with
networking, so I woould look at the nic drivers first then other drvers
after that, if it boots to safe mode and not normal then its usualy a driver
issue.

It was doing the same with windows 2000 - just that time it would boot to
the desktop then restart - it worked with networking then
