startup problem

Hi,

Lately when I turn my pc on (Win98), instead of loading smoothly, the
default page pops up early where I may choose to opne normally, open in safe
mode, open in DOS,… the page I would get if I had closed the system without
shutting doen properly or if I had clicked F8 repeatedly during the initial
stages of loading.

But now it defaults to that page.

How can I stop that?

Also forgive the post to Win2000, but Win98 seems pretty sparsely populated.
