I changed my startup programs some time ago and along the way I have lost the
ability to copy & paste to from one program to another without both programs
being open to begin with. Does anyone know how I can enable this feature
again?

I'm not understanding the copy/paste problem as described. The only snafu
in copy/paste that comes to mind is when Office clipboard is invoked. It
clears the current contents of the Windows clipboard. If you had something
waiting in the Windows clipboard that you wanted to paste, it's gone. There
are various ways to workaround this. Personally, I open the Office program
first. Then do copy/paste operations. An alternative: disable the Office
clipboard.

Thank you for the response. I do your work around currently (open the office
document first and then copy and paste), but I know there is some
configuration that allows you to copy and THEN open another application and
the paste funtion is active even though you opened the application AFTER you
clicked copy.

I believe this configuration is in startup, but I could be wrong.

You're most welcome. As stated before, an alternative is to disable the
Office clipboard. Open one of your Office programs, bring up Help and type
"office clipboard" into the search field. You'll get several "hits" for how
to turn this on/off.

Also search the XP newsgroups for posts by David Candy and the Office
clipboard. He has posted extensive information on this topic in the past.

Thanks. I did some searching under David Candy and I did find a solution.
Thanks again!
