About Startup-Mechanic:

Keep your PC running faster, cleaner, and error-free with
Startup-Mechanic. Startup-Mechanic will scan your system for known data
mining, advertising, and tracking components, and rid your system of
these tracking components, allowing you to maintain a higher degree of
privacy while you surf the Web. Startup-Mechanic will hunt down and
remove junk and obsolete programs running, freeing up RAM and
significantly increasing your system performance.

Other advanced features include automatic recycle bin storage of removed
components, a viewer for backup archives that allows you to quickly and
easily review components that have been removed and stored for future
restoration, and boot protection of your PC from harmful trojans,
adult-dialers, and other scumware.

me thinks it still has a bug or two in it under WinXP Pro. Solid error when
starting a scan.

After scanning, in the harmful category:
- winlogon 33: added as a result of the RANDEX.E VIRUS
- dmaswitch: added as a result of the CUYDOC VIRUS (but it seems of
PowerDVD)
- msctlwin: added as a result of the SEEKER.K VIRUS

In the useful category:
- tweak ui: but the program says "added as a result of the SUBWOOFER
VIRUS! Note - the real tweak ui entry for this is rundll32.exe
tweakui.cpl, tweakmeup"; The command line contains "rundll32.exe
tweakui.cpl, tweakmeup" and the recommendation is "should not disable".

???? Boh...???

Simon

P.S. I have AVAST daily updated and bitdefender for startup scanning of
system32: both have not found viruses.
