The same thing happend to me (see post 7/2/03). After a
week I got no response to my posting, so I took my own
action. I tried to repair the installation of W2K but
even that didn't work. So I ran a new install. Now the
machine lockup during the GUI part of the install
during 'registering windows components'. I just got
accesss to the HD via another PC and I found a log file
called setuperr.log that reads
" desk.cpl: Could not find upgrade information, assuming
upgrade from NT 4.0 Error: Setup had problems registering
the following OLE control DLL:"
It then lists about 30 dll files.
I am not sure what the solution here is, but if you make
progress, please let me know. If I get anywhere, I'll send
