Itz Just Me

I have Windows XP Pro.

I have been having some problems accessing my email since I installed
NAV2004 yesterday, a retail version.

When I was poking around in my startup, looking for any remnants of
McAfee (the AV that was bundled on this computer) I found an odd
STARTUP entry, something from SOFTWARE\Microsoft\CurrentVersion\Run,
with no command listed. I have it disabled, but I would sure like to
know what it is. It doesn't have a startup item name either, but is
found between "qttask" and "sgtray" in my disabled startup list, which
I access with MSCONFIG.

Any way I can find out more information on this?

QTTASK is related to the QuickTime software. SGTray is part of the software that installs with the Microsoft SideWinder joystick (at least that I know of).

I'm sorry I wasn't clear on why I posted that information about those
other two commands. I was showing where this UFO fit into the scheme
of the alphabet, even without a name.

Anybody know about such a program, or how I can find out exactly what
it is and why it is there, without a name or location listed?

Sorry, missed that bit. You need to go into MSCONFIG and expand the Command column, to see what the executable is. Then goto the file and right click on it, select Properties, Version. This may give you some idea of what the file is. If not, do a search on www.google.com for the file name. Enclose it in quotes for best results.

There is absolutely NO command line. No startup item name OR command.

Is there somewhere else in my computer I can get more information on
this? Is there a file that stores all the startup info?

Either MSCONFIG or MSINFO32, Software Environment, Startup Programs. You may also want to See www.dougknox.com, Win XP Utilities, Startup Programs Tracker. This small utility scans your system for startup programs and running processes. It also allows you to create a log file that can be copied and pasted into a newsgroup post. The contents of the program window are also copied to the Windows Clipboard, automatically.
