Hi

When I start up my laptop it always comes up with the following:

Checking File System in C

Type of file system is FAT 32

Windows then checks C drive and appears to do some sort of clean up as
follows:

Windows replaced bad clusters in file XXXXXXX of name (null)

Windows then runs a check on free space - "Verifying free space"

After this Windows starts up.

This takes approx 20 mins to complete and also corrupts some my other
software.

Any ideas please?

Thanks

J

Bad clusters are not a good sign, look around for a new hard drive. Also,xp
should run in NTFS file system (default),not FAT32,to convert,go to run, type:
cmd In cmd type:CONVERT C: /FS:NTFS
