I am new to all of this stuff that Windows has been releasing. I downloaded
the beta for Messenger, using the new Mail beta, and I'm using OneCare. I
have also downloaded the Windows Defender Beta 2. When I first downloaded
this problem, there was an Icon next to my clock, but now when I restart, it
doesn't appear. Does anyone know where this icon went, and how do I get it
to appear again?

By default, unless user interaction is needed--no icon appears. A number of
folks would prefer to see the icon, so Microsoft has agreed to provide that
change in a later build--but that build has not yet been made available. The
default will continue to be the present behavior--no icon unless an action is
needed.

The application is running--there is a Windows Defender service which is a
system service starting at boot (msmpeng.exe) and msascui.exe, as well. You
can see these if you run task manager and look at running processes.
