Had Norton 2003 and tried a trail version of 2004. Upon removal of the trail version it remove some 2003 stuff. Called symantec, they remotely accessed the computer deleted some stuff in the registry. Told us to shut down and reboot and everything would be fine. when rebooted it stops at the wallpaper with nothing else, no start button, no icons. The is a pointer and I can move it, but no other key strokes work. Called symantec back and there response was the do not support trail software. Any ideas?

Hi Ro

Have you tried booting up whiltst holding down the F8 key ?
You need to do this when the screen is black & white writing is regoniseing the various parts of your computer (you may hear a beeping sound as you hold down the key

F8 will lead you to a different screen where you can choose what you want to do next, before windows is fully booted

your mouse will not work in this area, you use the curor arrow keys (normally on right side of key board) to select options instead

I suggest you select 'last know good configuration' & press the enter key. It should ajust your system to the settings it had the last time it worked properly
