Hi Anthony...
Also keep in mind you have your startup programs and then the area of
startup processes or services which can also be lengthy. If you want
to end a process from starting up, it is understanding which of these
you can actually stop and which ones you should not touch.
If you have Administrative Tools in your control panel or on your start,
All Programs menu, you can open up services and see which of these
processes you can change from auto to manual or disable.
In looking at the process list....if you are the administrator, usually
those with your name listed next to them are the ones you can have a
better look at to decide whether you need those processes to startup or
not. There are also processes with System listed next to them that can
be disabled or manually started, but again, check these to see if they
are truly needed. (For instance, winamp may have a process listed under
system that truly does not need to startup as a process on your system
as many other programs may throw a reference there as well).
Here is a page explaining some of these services and I know at one time
BlackViper had pages with good tweaks as well although I was unable to
access the site this morning:

You can also do a search in google and teoma.com to have a look at more
links for these services.
Take Care...
