Starts in the middle of the night

I just built a new machine. It automatically starts
after being turned off or hibernating about 3 - 5 hours
later, during the night (or day).

I have disabled the "wake on's" in the BIOS and turned
off the automatic update features of programs that I know
have them.

I have also run AVG, Spy-Bot and AdAware.

What else to do??

Sorry, no fresh ideas here.

Has it done this since day one?
Was it a clean install of Windows or did you reuse a hard drive or
restore an image?

Everything was new and clean. I assembled all brand new
parts and a new copy of XP Home. Probably has done it
since day one which was about Feb. 27. It just took me a
while to catch it because it shuts down after a period of
time so when I come in to the "office" to use it, it's in
a shutdown period.

Saw your input to Fred Langa's latest letter. Interesting!

Thanks.

If it's since day one of a clean install, I'd be thinking hardware and
take another look at every nook and cranny in the BIOS. Maybe do a few
searches for the exact make, model and revision of your motherboard.

Maybe someone else will come along with some other ideas.

Please check! Does it occur only when Hibernating. Does it occur when turned
Off?

Unknown, it happens after shutdown from "Turn Off"
or "Hibernate".

Only known culprit is BIOS. Can you check MB manufacturer for an BIOS update?

I have seen weird things happen on computers because of a bad ground. Can you
try a different AC outlet?
