Is there anyway to startup windows xp automaticly without the welcome
screen or password?

Start | Run, type "control userpasswords2" Select the account you want to
logon to automatically. Then uncheck the box "Users must enter a user name
and password to use this computer."

Or do the same thing with TweakUI.

Yes! This is what I wanted. Thank you!

I have the opposite problem.

When I installed XP Pro clean on a new HDD, I neglected to add user names
for myself & other family members. So it still starts up as "Administrator",
even after I added other users & setup passwords for Admin & myself.

If I logoff, I end up a the "User Select" screen.

All I want to achieve is to have the "User Select" screen appear at startup,
so each user can click on their own name & picture. I had this working for a
while on the old setup, but it went away & couldn't get it back.

thanks in advance for any ideas.......

Ken, I need to change the username and password on my Windows 2000 XP
Professional and I only have the screen that calls for username and password?

How can I change it or just fix it so it does not need a username and
password?

Thank you

Please read the (very old) message to which you replied. It tells you
how to do it.
