I have had this XPpro machine wsince January of this year and turned
off the MCE screen, somehow.

Now I would like to take another look at the MCE features, including a
recent update that addresses DVD burning.

How do I startup MCE 2005 ed ? Would like to have a shortcut on my
desktop if I continue to use MCE.

Where can I get details and install file about the recent Rollup
edition ?

Thanks.

Hi:

Open Windows Explorer and here is the string to make a shortcut to launch
Windows Media Center: C:\WINDOWS\eHome\ehshell.exe. Right click on
ehshell.exe>Send To>Desktop (create shortcut).

You will have to contact the manufacturer of your computer to obtain the
2005 upgrade to MCE. Sony had a cutoff date on obtaining it, but hopefully
your manufacturer will still provide for a minimum price. Normally $9.95 was
the upgrade price.

TNX. I ran the string from the Start Run dialog and got it to run for
me. Also made a shortcut on my Desktop.

I thought that the MCE 2005 Rollup was an update (no Charge) rather
than upgrade (cost to buy). I will look further into this.

I do not have any Remote or a TV tuner with my system, but DELL put
MCE 2005 onto the PC anyway.

Other account users have the original MC shortcut on their desktop. I
think I ran the Desktop Cleanup Wizzard, which archived the original
MC shortcut, removing it from my main account user's desktop. I
probably then deleted it from the Unused Desktop Shortcut folder. Op
Error, again ....

Tnx again.

Hi Vince:

I apologize, as I misunderstood your question about Rollup to be the MCE
program upgrade to MCE2005. There is a Windows Update (Optional) Rollup 2
for MCE2005 (KB900325), but you will probably have to have MCE2005 for it to
appear as available from Windows Update. You can run Windows Update and see
if it shows up, but I doubt it unless you have upgraded to MCE2005 or have
MCE2005 installed.

It of course is free as you stated, being a Windows Update. Again I am
sorry for getting off on the wrong tangent.
