Starting up w2k

Hi, is there a way to start dos before windows2k tries to start, because for "some" reason i have my system32 directory write protected and windows2000 won't startup. So i want to be able to make the directory writable again. And i can't find my windows cd. How can i startup with a disc?

Press F8 as you boot up your machine, then choose command prompt option.
