starting programs when first booting

My machine will not start any programs for at least 3-4
mins after rebooting windows XP home. after that time
expires it works fine help

You need to determine what program you have starting at boot that is taking
that much time to initialize or run. Most likely an anti-virus program or
other utility.

Go to Start/Run, type: msconfig and press OK. Click the Start Up tab and
take a look at what programs are in that list. All of these programs will
start when you boot the computer.

If you cannot readily identify the culprit, remove the check marks from all
of the items in the Start Up list. Reboot the system and see if the problem
is still there. If not, replace the check marks, one at a time and reboot
each time until the problem reappears. This will identify the culprit.

You can also check in the Start/All Programs/Start Up folder to see if there
are any program shortcuts in there, these will also start when you boot the
computer.
