starting print spooler

A problem started after using a Lexmark printer. All
printers previously installed are now deleted, and if I
try to add a printer, it says 'Operation could not be
completed'. After some research, I noticed that I cannot
get my print spooler to start. It says access is denied.
I've cleaned all previous printer drivers, but still no
success. Do I have to completely reinstall XP?
