Starting Over

I have a laptop with Win2K svc pak 4 that simply will not access certain web
sites (Microsoft & Excite for 2). I have done everything I can find to fix
it and am giving up.

Now I need to start over.

Is one of the options when installing from CD to format the disk before
the install or is there anything tricky about it that I should know before I
start?

If your laptop BIOS is set up to boot from the CD before the hard drive, you
can boot from the CD, delete, re create, and format partitions. You have to
boot from the CD to get these options.

Good list, except for MS04-004.

First, it is just an IE update, which is only exploitable if you
browse a malicious Web site or Email message. Since you ought to
visit Windows Update before doing anything else anyway, there is no
reason to install MS04-004 before attaching to a network.

Second, it was superseded by MS04-025.

The reason you can't go to certain websites is because of
adware or spyware. This is becoming a major problem. It's
not your windows installation that is bad. Get Ad-Aware
and SpyBot to get rid of them. Both freeware.
