Starting in Safe Mode

Is ther a key that that will start Safe Mode on any computer?
I have found the on some the Ctrl key works or sometimes it's an 'F' key
that's required.

Normally it is F8. On some computers it is F5. Repeatedly tap the F8 key
as the computer is starting up. This will get you to the correct menu.
Use the arrow keys to select Safe Mode because the mouse will not work here.

On my machine (an E-Machine) i just keep tapping the F8 key until the safe
mode menu appears

If you can't find it just pull the power plug from the wall when it's
halfway thru booting up.
Next time you start it usually comes up with the menu choices.
 
That option, Bruce, is something i wouldn't be recommending.
