Hi,
Word 2002, WIN XP
How do I start the footer on page 3 (no footer on pages 1 and 2)?
I need to paste some text in there but only on pages starting at 3 and
forward.
Tx,
S

Saturnini,

You can create a new section (Insert>Break>Next Page) and put your footer in
Section 2 only, or you can use a conditional field in the footer {IF {PAGE}
2"Your footer text"}

Field code brackets { } are entered with CTRL+F9

Sorry but I cannot make either proposed solutions work....
Can u give me more details as to implementation?
Tx,

Saturtini,

If you put your cursor at the end of the text on page 2 then
Insert>Break>Next Page. Your document will now contain a Section 1 and a
Section 2. Display the header and footer toolbar, and put your cursor in
the footer. Use the "show next icon until you have "Footer-Section 2"
displayed. Next click the "link to previous" item to break the link between
Section 2 and Section 1. The "Same as Previous" annotation should go away.
Finally, type your text in the section 2 footer.

If you want to use the field method, then put your cursor in the footer,
Press CTRL+F, Type IF, press CTRL+F9, type Page, move the cursor in between
the two } } then type > 2"Your footer text" Your footer text is the text
you want displayed. It must be enclosed in the speech marks as shown.

Without a section break, insert the following in your footer:

{ IF { PAGE } > 2 "Your footer text" }

Start by typing the following:
IF PAGE > 2 "Your footer text"

Select "PAGE" and press Ctrl-F9 to insert field codes.
Select the entire line and press Ctrl-F9 and F9 to insert field codes and
activate the field.

If this does not work, write back with information on the title of the
footer box that you put this field in.

Tx for your help Greg.
Actually, Charles found the step I was omitting--see next post.

A section break is not needed and probably not desirable if inserted only
for this purpose. See prior posts in this thread.
