If you need to start at a specific slide, you might want to investigate
setting up a custom show with that slide first, then the other slides.
That said, I haven't understood this one before and don't now. If you are
using a subset or re-ordering of the slides, then use a custom show.
However, if you are always going to start at a slide other than the first
one, why not make the one you need to start with the first slide? Either
hide the slides in front of your start slide, or move them to the end of the
presentation.
