When I log on to my computer takes forever to load. I checked the processes
and the System Idle Process was jumping from 97 to 99. Then after 5-10 min.
it jumps down to normal. Ive only got 4 things to load at start-up. It didnt
take that long when I first bought the computer about 3 weeks ago. Please
tell me on how to fix or mit cause it. Thanks

I'm not sure what you are calling normal as it is normal for System Idle
Process to be showing 97 - 99 when your system is sitting idle or not doing
much (hence the name). Some are confused thinking System Idle Process is
taking up 90 some percent of their systems CPU cycles but that is not right.
As far as helping to fix your problem you might want to check the Event
Viewer. Hopefully it will give you a clue to what's holding things up.

I did. Yet when i log on it still jumps from 97-99 CPU. It slows down
everything even when I try to lanch a program.

In Joshua had this to say:

My reply is at the bottom of your sent message:

I'd start there.

You mention only 4 things loading on startup. There should, likely, be more
than that if it's a PC that is going online or anything.

Hello!

System Idle Process - is fantom process which do nothing.
When you see System Idle Process 90 percents load it means your real
processor loading is 10 %.

100% processor loading by System Idle Process means your processor do
nothing.
0% processor loading by System Idle Process means your processor is
loaded by 100% (some application has been eat all processor resources).
If your system works slow and System Idle Process loaded by 100% than
you should look to the Disk Activity.
If disk activity is huge your computer will work slowly (see lamp on
your computer which indicates disk activity).

Its not 10% or whatever....the 97-99 is what is displayed under the CPU
column. And the Drive itnt doing nothing. When I first log on, I can click on
the start menu but it dont go away and I cant click on anything. But all the
applications on the destop work fine. And my computer itnt idle.

Hello Joshua
It took me a while to understand what you are being told now.
In very simple terms:-
System Idle Process reading 97-99 = Good - its resting/not busy.
System Idle Process reading 00-10 = Could be bad - but if you check the CPU
column you should see numbers for other processes that are running. If you
add up the numbers of these other running processes and add them to what the
System Idle Process is showing, you will find they add up to 100 (100%).
Does this help at all?
