The initial phase of start up is fast but when it gets
to:'Log on to Windows' it hangs foe approximately 1.5
minutes then completes start up. Would appreciate any
ideas to fix this.

If this is a server, then it can be just plain busy sometimes.

If it is a workstation then...

Check your ip configuration.
If your IP address is assigned by DHCP, then it may be the DHCP server is a
tad difficult to find. For DHCP assigned addresses make sure everything is
correct at the DHCP server.

If your gateway address is invalid, IP traffic can wander all around the
world before getting where it should go.
If your DNS server address is invalid then other grotty things can happen.
If you have secondary DNS servers, they are pointless unless the first ones
fail, so they could be failing.
If the network bindings are out of order then this can happen.
(Network Connections, Tools / Advanced).

As mentioned check your tcp/ip properties to make sure it is compatible with the lan
or particularly Active Directory domain where you will experience problems if the
domain computer is configured to use an ISP dns server instead of a domain controller
as it's preferred dns server as shown Ipconfig /all. Never use an ISP dns server for
an AD domain computer. Also check Event Viewer system and application logs for errors
or warnings that may indicate the problem. --- Steve
