The windows default Start up tune lasts for 4 seconds, I
have replaced my default tune with a favorite riff which
lasts for 57 seconds its in the .wav format and plays for
the full 57 seconds when you accsess the sounds window
from the control panel. However wen my computer is booting
up, my new start up tune gets cut off after 18 seconds of
play. Is there some way to increase the amount of time
within the pc so that I can play the whole 57 seconds when
my pc boots up.
I would be thankfull for some help.
Thanks
Phil

try to look for reason for cutoff. the sound may be cutting off because
another event must be occuring which causes your sound to stop and another
one top play , like if you mouse click in between. some application
integrate sounds with their startup and shutdown.

goto control panel> sounds and turnoff all sounds except windows startup.

Hi Phil,

The default buffer length seems to still be 4 seconds, if one looks at

Control Panel -
Sounds and Multimedia Properties -
Hardware -
Media Control Devices -
Properties -
(additional) Properties tab
[MCI] Sound (properties)

....the MCI Waveform Driver Setup dialog lets you click Settings and you'll
see the 4 second setting. Change this to the maximum and see how all this
works.
