I have recently installed windows xp home ed. It does not
shut down the computer automatically, as it is expected.
It only shows the "it's now safe to shut down your
computer" message, and I have to turn it off manually. On
top of that, most of the times when it starts up, it
freezes, and I have to re-start it a few times until it
is ready to operate. What can I do about it?

THANKS IN ADVANCE TO ANYONE WHO'S WILLING TO HELP!

In order for XP to turn off the pc automatically, you need to have Advanced
Power Management enabled in your system's BIOS assuming that the motherboard
supports it. Refer to your motherboard's manual on how to do this. As for
the freezing on startup, did you install over another OS (Win98/ME/2k)?

.
Could be caused by a number of things such as : an
incompatible or conflicting device driver, or incorrectly
configured hardware...Even the newly loaded software...
People trying to help you will need more info..
Was your installation new, or upgraded?? (ex. 98 to XP)
Was the system working correctly before the XP Home
install??
