start up processes

I would like to clean up my start up processes that should
not be there but i can't Windows ME has it why doesn't XP?
any help?

Windows XP has the same feature which is known as "msconfig" To access it
goto Start>>Run>>Type "msconfig" and goto the Startup tab.
 
thats what I'm talking about i go there and theres at
least 20 either 1-3 of the same process to a program i
uninstalled in the past and it continuelly stays there i
can enable them but they do nothing just i would like to
clean them up have whats on my comptuer to stay and the
useless ones gone
 
Which ones are the "useless" ones?

umm theres 3 CThelper to my sound blaster audigy card
since my recent purchuse of a new audigy card and 2
differtent driver installs and a bunch or other programs
like Nero start up more Sound balsyer processes that i
don't need no software for them to start up and old norton
2001 and 2002 start up processes i have norton 2003 now
