could try and run chkdsk to make sure my hard drive is

If you wish to check your hard drive, go to the drive manufacturer's website
and download the drive's diagnostic tools disk, make note of the
instructions. It will usually provide a means of creating a floppy boot
disk, boot from it and run the diagnostic as chkdsk will not do a thorough
enough scan and usually can't tell you if the drive is failing.

Since you don't have an XP CD, you will have to use your system
manufacturer's recovery routine to resolve this. Check your system
documentation or contact the manufacturer's tech support.

Hi,
to get to the DOS Prompt .. u can boot from the WinXP CD
and at the first screen of setup press "r" for the
recovery console. If the BLUE_SCREEN error says one of
UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME ..u can type "chkdsk /p" (5-
7mins) or else "chkdsk /r" (15-25mins). Either wise the
diagonistic wud run. But this prompt is actually not a
full DOS prompt. If u use DELL u can get bac to me and i
can show u how to get to pure DOS Mode.

Thanks,
