I am have terrible trouble with Starting my computer. I have had a few error
reports to none. The ones I have gotten are:

RPL - Rom - FFC - 5 Not found

Another I get after a Re-Boot is..

Boot Record from..Floppy and CD Rom and SCSI all not found then will ask to
use Floppy and press any key to continue.

I don't have a Floppy to use. I do have the original CD Rom that I bought
and had installed. I have the right CD and License. I know I should have a
Backup copy in case but just to busy on the road and I forget to do this.

I have tried to re-boot and some times this works and then it doesn't. It is
very confusing and maddening. I have noticed after using Excel 97 the problem
starts. At one point my Anti-virus program was not even going. I couldn't get
it to start so I uninstalled it and installed it and now it works fine.

I have tried System Restore and that doesn't help either. I have scanned the
computer a few times to check for Virus and Spy-ware and Ad-ware and anything
else one can scan for and nothing comes up. As far as I can tell this
computer is clean.

I continue to re-boot and re-boot until I can get it to start but there must
be a better of doing things but lost as to what that is or how to fix it. I
have also checked for any updates for Windows XP and this too is OK. Should
I uninstall Windows XP or just go on a long Vacation?

Any help would be appreciated. I am using:

Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2
AMD Athlon Processor
256 MB Ram
Internet Explore 6.0 sp 2

PC-cillin 2005 Internet Security

If any other info is needed please let me know.

Thanks.....from A very tired Driver!

You have a hardware problem. The "rpl-rom" message refers to a special type
of network card:
http://support.intel.com/support/network/adapter/pro100/sb/cs-013528.htm

And when the system gets past that device, it's having trouble finding a
drive that contains the code to boot the operating system.

Suggest calling tech support for your system to report these issues.

Thank you for your help. Will call and hope this can be resolved.

Thanks again.
