I recently tried to open PP 2000 and only get a flash of a
black screen. Can't open the program. All other programs on
Office 2000 pro work fine. Windows 2000 Pro Operating
System. Formated the H/D and got the same result after
reload.

Can you give us more information about what led up to this? Have you used
PowerPoint 2000 successfully on this system before? Are you sure that
PowerPoint was installed when you installed Office? What version of Office
2000 do you have? Is it the Small Business Edition?

Yes it worked when installed a while ago. I am using
Office 2000 pro with all the updates SR-1(9.0.4527). As
far as I can tell Power Point is installed, just won't
start. Thanks

The first thing I would recommend is to apply Service Pack 3, since you say
you have SP-1.

Also, if you are trying to open it by clicking on a Desktop icon, check the
Properties of the icon to be sure that it is correctly pointing to
POWERPNT.EXE. If you open Windows Explorer and go to C:\Program
Files\Microsoft Office\Office (or wherever you installed Office 2000), do
you find POWERPNT.EXE?

Finally, press Ctrl + Alt + Del to open Task Manager. Under the Processes
tab, do you see POWERPNT.EXE?

Finally, see the information at http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00453.htm
