Just set-up XP and I'm still getting used to it. Can someone please
tell me where I can change my start-up items listing? In W98 I used
to go to system info, tools, etc., etc.. In XP, I'm lost.

TIA

Thanks, that did it. I knew it had to be something simple. Now, let
be a little pushy - - got another problem. I tried to restore some of
the files from my old W98 system that i had backed-up with the Windows
back-up utility. But XP back-up doesn't recognize them. Any
suggestions here??

TIA

Unfortunately that's another MS own-goal. NTBackup in XP will NOT read
backup files made in any of the Win 9x versions.
Considering MS is pushing towards a unified OS for both personal and
business use, I would suggest that is a good foul-up!
The only way is to restore the backups onto a win 9x machine and transfer
them some other way AFAIK.....

Hi Al,

While NTBackup does not recognize the MSBackup .QIC files, try the utility
here for that, it has a 30 day free trail. Link courtesy of MVP Harry Ohrn:

Ntbackup will not recognize the file compression used by Win98's msbackup.
Download the 30 day trial of Backup MyPC from www.stompinc.com will work.
Backup MyPC is actually the Veritas Backup Exec app that the Windows Backup
programs are based on so it will open and restore .QIC files.
