When starting up Windows/XP with any user in the system brings up the user
page but hangs. The disk is running something. The internet modem is always
disabled. I bring up the task manager and I am in idle 99% with no visible
processes running. I select shut down and get two messages. The first is
ccSvcHst running and it won't close, so I end it. The second in exployer.exe
and I also have to force it to end. Rebot and everything is ok that day.

According to the search engine, "ccSvcHst" is a Norton file.

And as for the second one "exployer.exe", is that how it is spelled ?

When I do a search on my computer for "explorer.exe", I find copies
in C:\Windows and C:\Windows\system32\dllcache .

Maybe the exployer.exe is malware ?

Always state your full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; WinXP 64-bit SP2;
Vista SP1; Vista 64-bit SP2; Win7; Win7 64-bit) when posting in a forum or
newsgroup. Please do so in your next reply.

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your
subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)?
What third-party firewall (if any)?

Has a(another) Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on the
computer (e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought
it)?
