After putting a clean install of 2000 on a AMD duron 800
mhz computer during the restart of the system a hard
error ntdll is encountered. I have turned off all shadow
settings but the system just hangs and will not start any
Ideas?

Hello,
If you're seeing a bluescreen error (Stop 0xC0000221) referencing NTDLL.DLL,
most likely that file is corrupt, or wasn't copied properl during Setup.

See the following Knowledge Base article for more information:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;101096

In addition to the steps mentioned in that article, you could try booting to
Recovery Console and replacing NTDLL.DLL from the Windows CD.

We've seen this type of error after Setup primarily if a hardware component
has failed (a laptop docking station, in one case; RAM, processor, hard disk
in other cases). Wouldn't be a bad idea to perform hardware diagnostics and
run CHKDSK /P (from Recovery Console) on the system also.
