Start up Error- Explorer.EXE Unable to locate Component

On start this error message appears. "This application failed because
SHDOCVWW.dll was not found. Re-installing the applicationmay fix this
problem. I am not sure how to do this . Nothing shows on screen.I am able to
use Task Manager only. Pls help
 
Task Manager has a "New Task" button, and you can use it to run the SFC
/SCANNOW command

Mark thanks for help however I failed to post that I use XP and scannow did
not work Help Gil

Mark thanks for the info. scannow did not work. Maybe because I am running
xp not Vista Any other thoughts? Thanks Gil
 
SHDOCVWW.dll is that a typo? it should be SHDOCVW.dll if it is a typo then
try my Explorer Shell Fix tool. Download it here
http://pcbutts1.com/downloads/tools/tools.htm If you can't download that
program then type the follow in the task manager run field, file>new task
then type in "regsvr32 shdocvw.dll /I /s" (without the quotes) and press
enter. Repeat the process but type "explorer.exe" (without the quotes)
