In my computer, right-click on the floppy drive, format, check the box
to "Create an MS-DOS startup disk".

Keep in mind that while this will boot to a dos prompt (a real DOS
prompt), it cannot access or read files on an NTFS partition.

Hi, Paul.

Define "startup disk for xp".

Do you want to boot into MS-DOS? Or into WinXP? Do you mean a floppy
diskette? Or a bootable CD?

An MS-DOS startup floppy is easy: Right-click on Drive A: in My Computer
(with a floppy in the drive), choose Format..., then Create an MS-DOS
startup disk.

To start WinXP from a floppy is a little harder, but it can be done.
Basically, you need a floppy with the WinXP "system files": NTLDR,
NTDETECT.COM and Boot.ini. A:\Boot.ini must point to the "boot folder" of
your installed WinXP. This lets the boot process skip the system partition
on the hard drive (usually C:) and load WinXP from wherever you have it
installed on your HD.

If that's not what you meant, please post back.
