I recently moved my computer. Prior to moving I had set up User Accounts.
Upon new start up I was unable to use my mouse to select a User Account and
so am unable to open Windows XP.
The KeyBoard does not allow me to Tab into the User Account field to open.
How do I re-start my computer so that I am able to use the mouse and/or
keyboard.
I think tht my unit wants to see the keyboard and mouse as new hardware.

Assuming you are using wired devices, did you plug them back into the
correct receptacle? Either device will fit either receptacle,

My fatter KB cable goes into a female green plug and my skinnier mouse
cable goes into a female purple plug.

Seems to be the oposite of what I'm used to:

Purple= Keyboard
Green= Mouse.

By "moving" do you mean to another country/home/room/table? Or just
unplugging everything you have & re-assembling it?
John John - MVP's Green & Purple setup is what I have too so it's
worth trying a change-over there.

Sorry. "Moving" referred to disassembling the computer to move to a new condo.
I will try to plug in as suggested but I am also using USB connections for
the mouse and keyboard,

I need a way to get around the need to select a User Account at the start up

So the hardware appears to be functioning properly? You can boot the
computer, you see video display and the keyboard and mouse work?

You say that " you need a way to get around the need to select a User
Account at the start up". Don't you remember your user name and
password? You can't access a running Windows installation without using
a username and password, why do you need to get around the
authentication process? What happens when Windows boots? How far do
you make it in the boot process? Can you boot to Safe Mode? Is this XP
Home or XP Pro?

Can he do that if he cannot log on?
