start program at logon

i'm trying to start a vpn client before i logon to windows 2000. i was told
that i could do this so my windows Active directory security policy could be
updated from home. how do i call a program before the logon screen?

If this is the MS VPN client, at the logon screen check the box for 'Log on
using dial-up connection.' For this purpose VPN over broadband Internet is
a dial-up connection.

You can use a Group Policy for this.

There are logon scripts which are run when the user logs on

And start-up scripts which run when the machine starts.

To set this policy locally type gpedit.msc at the run prompt, to set it
for the AD domain use 'AD User and Computers' or 'Group Policy
Management Console'
