Create a shortcut to outlook.exe in "C:\Documents and Settings\All
Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup".

Right-click on the shortcut and select Properties; tab Shortcut; from
the Run pull-down menu select 'Minimized'; OK.

That's good thanks, now when the computer starts up the Outlook icon is
sitting in the task bar by the clock, (I like to minimize it that way) but
when I open it, it doesn't maximize to full screen, only a small screen in
the middle of the monitor.

That is the so-called "normal" view. I think if you maximize it from
there (or pull it to a larger size), it should open that way the next
time you open it from the system tray.

That doesn't appear to work for OL 2003. I haven't tested OL 2007.

That's strange, as this is a normal Windows procedure. It seems to have
worked for the OP, although we don't know his OL version.

I recall trying it with OL 2000 and having it work, but not with OL 2003. I
just tried it again and confirmed that, for me, Outlook 2003 won't start
minimized even if the shortcut properties specify that it should.
