Unable to customise the Start menu in win 2kpro since running MS update
direct from web.

Recently noticed a new user has been created, ASPNET?? , I or no other user
created this, is this .NET frameworks doing?

My administrator start menu had lost its Administrative Tools sub menu,
Going to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs, Admin
tools was not there,

BUT in is in the ALL USERS Start MenuC:\Documents and Settings\All
Users\Start Menu\Programs.

I copied the Admin Tools group (Ctrl C) from All users and Ctrl V'ed it into
the Administrator Start Menu.

BUT it still does not appear from the Start button pop up list, and Windows
will now not let me delete it, saying it It is a WIndows System folder and
unable to delete. Even changing Securitiy properties of the specific
folder makes no difference.

Previously I have been able to move and customise individual user and admin
start menus with no problem. What is likely cause? No viruses infections
caught by uptodate Norton.

Any ideas?

* What happens when you try and what are you wanting to do?

* Yes DotNet framework was installed.

* What happens if you logon as a new user? Right-click the Task
Bar|Properties|Advanced, then check the box for "Display Administrative
Tools"

Ah.....
Stupid me, did not have display admin tools box checked!!! How did I miss
that one, More to the point how did it become unchecked.

What I was trying to do.....

Defrag, as simple as that, but found the admin tools gone. De fragged from
HDD properties box, but the loss of the admin tools was bugging me and could
not work out where it had gone.

I always Customise my users Start Menu(s) to 4 or 5 basic groups from the
Programs list: Office, Internet, Grapics, Comms, Entertainment, and
Accessories. Do not like to see a screen full of menu items, and
Personalise menu items is a pain in the butt, so I sub-divide, Start
menu/Programs into those 4 or 5 main groups...Far easier to find stuff

Have to make sure no one in the office finds out about me missing that check
box though!!!

Cheers
