Start Menu Woes

I ve a HP Nx9000, running on XP Home edition. My problem
is my Start Menu doesn't pop-up when I have set it to
Classic mode, but it works when I ve changed it to the new
XP one. Any solutions please?????? Also My Documents
folder changes and becomes invisible in Calssic option.
Please Help!!!!
