START menu, the taskbar, and the system tray won't show and IE browsers are hiding at the back

I was playing with the resolution today and somehow, all of a sudden,
the START menu, the taskbar, and the system tray... just everything
down at the bottom disappeared!! Then, I realized all the IE browsers
are hiding at the "back". I go to the SYSTEM > Taskbars and double
clicked it, it won't show up. It is "hiding".

how do I know it is "hiding"? I hit ctrl-alt-del, the application
tells me these windows are active. I tried right click each to "bring
to the front", but it does not help.

anyone has any thoughts? Thanks a lot.

When someone has been tinkering and has made more than one change, it is
sometimes hard to undo those changes. Try a System Restore to before
you tinkered and in the future, make one change at a time and test
after each change.
