After installing Windows Vista, I looked at the start menu button and
literally said outloud 'WTF' but not the acronym. Is there any chance,
without switching to basic viewing, which would be rediculous after paying
$250.00 for this operating system, to view the original start button? I mean
it's only the trademark of Windows. I would like to see it in the same color
that the current one is. Anyone else irritated by this change?

You mean the start orb? No, I'm not irritated by the change.

No, I think the new start button looks nice. The only thing that
irritates me is that
it seems to be an imitation of OSX's aqua icons.

Err.. with all the legitimate faults you could find with Vista, you pick
that? I think it improves on aesthetics and people know where to look now,
so we don't need to be directed there anymore, like we did in 1995.

There are much more serious issues to discuss, with the Start Menu itself.
Like the fact that you cannot arrange All Programs in order, and the lack of
an option to breakout and cascade the All Programs menu. It's dumber down.
Simplistic users may feel that the search function totally makes up for
this.

ss.

So I'm the odd man out. Yes I mean the start orb, I suppose. I guess I'm just
one that likes to keep the small things the same. Overall the operating
system is nice, just would like to see that start menu there again *tear* :(

Hopefully Microsoft will make this option available to those users who want
to keep it :)

Under Windows XP, there were many custom UI theme programs that could
completely change the start button's appearance. I don't know those
programs currently work on Windows Vista, but once those programs work
on Windows Vista, you may be able to find a theme that make your start
button look like that of Windows XP. So don't lose your hope yet.

But I hardly think that Microsoft would add an option to customize the
start button, since they never did before.

Many people complained about having to press "start" to shutdown their
computer.

You can make some of the people happy all of the time, and all of the people
happy some of the time,

BUT

You can't make all of the people happy all of the time.

I'm just not happy with that statement.

You're kidding. It's the new Windows logo. It's EVERYWHERE.

If you want the "orginal" (old) go with classic.

Hello?

It's the NEW Vista trademark.

Get with the program.

This is a joke, right?
