Instead of having the fixed set of Documents, Pictures, Music, Videos, and
Games to choose from, for the Start Menu's right pane, just let us place
links/menus to any folder we want to.

Sure, I could reach them from the Documents menu, but having other
frequently accessed stuff (such as Visual Studio Projects, Chat Logs,
Downloaded Files, etc.) directly on the Start Menu would be a lot more
convenient, and make the UI seem more modern.

You should use the feedback link to send this suggestion to MS. This is not
a managed newsgroup and your suggestion will not reach MS from here.

It's not quite the same thing, but you can put shortcuts to folders in the
upper left pane of the start menu.

Colin, can you post the URL that the feedback link goes to? I deleted it
from my desktop(x64) and it is nowhere to be found......search finds one,
but when I right click-Find location on disk, it says it can't be found...

If all you did was delete what you saw on the desktop then you only deleted
the shortcut. To get it back you can go to \Windows\System32\msinfo32 and
send the shortcut to the desktop the usual way. You can see the blue
question mark icon easily.

The full path in my Vista x64 system is %Systemroot%\System32\mshta.exe
%Systemroot%\System32\feedback.hta. There is a space after mshta.exe.

I don't recall where the hyperlink is but if I remeber right there was one
in the welcome email.

I thought I had figured out how to recover the shortcut but I was wrong. I
have emailed (e-mail address removed) for the best way to restore your shortcut.
The problem is that it is an html page my Feedback icon does not have the
right file location for an executable. I'm working on it.
