Hi folks,

I bought a new Gateway computer last week, but it has this "Do More With
Gateway" thing in the Start menu below the "Run" command. Selecting it
brings up some marketing and sales junk, so obviously I want to get rid of
it.

I ran the uninstaller for "Do More With Gateway" in the Add/Remove Programs
control panel, and it appeared to remove things. But now the "Do More With
Gateway" thing is still there, but without the Gateway logo.

Clicking it no longer brings up the sales and marketing junk, but the darn
Start menu item is still there.

Right-clicking it doesn't bring up a menu, so I can't delete it that way.

Ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Right-click the Start menu, select Properties, then Customize, Advanced, and
uncheck it in the "Start Menu Items" list.

Unfortunately, it's not an option in the list.

uncheck this link.

Phooey, they must have removed it when they did their uninstall.

In regedit go to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\StartM
enu\StartPanel\ShowOEMLink\Policy

and delete

NoOEMLinkInstalled

That should re-enable the option.

I just found this yesterday, and if you are comfortably with editing the
registry, you can use this backwards to get rid of the gateway logo, or just
add your own thing if you so please:

Hope this helps.
