Start Menu Bug in RC2

I hope this has been fixed in RTM. Lots of times when I search for
something through the start menu, explorer.exe will max out my CPU until I
kill it no matter if I get out of the start menu or not. Anyone else have
this in RC2 (32-bit)? Thanks.

Hi Travis,

Can you give an example of the type of search you are doing so it can be
replicated to see if it still occurs in RTM?

It's basically anything that I type into the search feature in the start
menu. It does not do this in an explorer window's search box, only the
start menu's, but whatever it is, it causes explorer to eat as much of my
CPU that there is available until explorer.exe is killed in task manager. I
then have to manually restart explorer.exe. For just an example, I did a
search on 'administrative tools' in the start menu's search box and then the
CPU usage spiked to 100% and it pegged it there until explorer.exe was
killed even after exiting the start menu and closing all explorer windows.
Thanks.

I don't see evidence of that in Vista Final, but just to make sure, I tried
the search for 'administrative tools'. My CPU usage jumped up for a second
to 42%, but came right back down. Unfortunately, I can't try it in RC2, as I
removed it as soon as MS gave me a copy of Vista Ultimate final.

Like David, I had no delay when running that search. It may be exclusive to
RC2, as I don't recall it being an issue in other builds and isn't a problem
in the release version. By chance did you disable the indexing service? That
would delay locating anything.

My indexing is on and I believe I changed my indexing settings to index most
of my computer. The searches themselves aren't slow, but the rest of the
computer runs poorly until explorer is killed.
