Hello,

I get bored of it too.. WindowsXP itself, doesn't
allow you to change it. Sooo.. You have 2 options...

1. Go and download StyleXP, It allows you to use
Themes/Visual Styles in XP. But its shareware, so you
have to pay when the time limit is up. Address below.

http://www.tgtsoft.com

2. Get the FREE UXTheme.dll patch and install it, Then
you can use Visual Styles. This is what I use. Just
follow the directions to install. You can get that from
address below.

http://www.lightstar1.com/install.htm

Once you have either of those installed, Goto..
http://www.themexp.org

And look at the Visual Styles avalible, While there look
at their "How To Install" section to get them installed
and you'll be a happy camper from now on :) lol Well at
least I know I am!

Hope that helps.

how slow does this make your computer run - say for example next to
windowblinds?
although windowblinds looked appealing it was such a drain on my computer
that i stopped using it almost as soon as installing it.

I really haven't noticed any slow down. But then I'm
using the patch, So that doesn't use any extra resources.
I have never used WindowBlinds, So I really couldn't
compare. Sorry

From what I'm seeing from the manual install for this patch, is that it's
replacing the original luna skin dll with a modified dll that allows the
user to assign there own images in place of the original windows luna skin.

therefore it's not something that sits on top of the systems default
graphics and runs as an app with all the excess that goes with it like
windowblinds. but literally replaces them with custom graphics. In theory
this should only take up as much space as the original graphics so long as
they are saved out in the right manner: compression, format etc.

If this is right then windowblinds is definitely a bloated pain in the ass
in comparison.

thanks for the link BTW!

Hello,

The luna.msstyle file never gets changed, Its the
UXTheme.dll that gets changed. Which basically allows you
to use unsigned visual styles. Glad I could help.. Have
you installed it?

i'll be ok so long as a create a restore point, and follow those
instructions by the letter hey.
